Dear Detectives, My name is Jason Mahoney, the New Haven Inspector leading a case to solve who stole the Midnight Crown. I am glad I can count on you for help…
On the night of February 20th, at 3:05 am, an emergency call was received at the Great Falls Police headquarters. The Museum of Art and Culture had been robbed of an exquisite piece, the bejeweled Midnight Crown. Oddly, in place of the missing crown was left a nugget of what seemed to be gold, but turned out to be a worthless hunk of pyrite. With no fingerprints, a shoddy security system, and secrets to discover, can you solve the case of The Midnight Crown?
A true detective will follow any scent to uncover the mystery, so you must take advantage of every tool available. Search online and follow every lead, making connections between the unlikeliest of facts. Can you think creatively enough to uncover the clues that will reveal the answers?
Players will work together as a team to analyze letters, interpret the police interviews of various suspects, make telephone calls and even research on the Internet. Your approach to finding a solution is guaranteed to be multidimensional. Study the fingerprints, collect all the information on the included large evidence board, discuss alibis and motives.
For your research during the investigation, you will need internet access and a phone with which you can receive text messages. It may also be helpful to have a laptop or tablet close at hand.
We recommend between 1.5 and 3 hours to complete this case, which can be played straight through or split between into multiple sessions. The game is suitable for players aged 14 and over, but if playing with a larger group or family, it is possible to support younger players as they assist with the detective work.
